The Street Department maintains 67 miles of City streets, intersections, signs, storm water systems, and shoulders.
The City of Baker City recognizes that maintenance and reconstruction of sidewalks within the city is necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of the community. In response to that need, a utility fee was established by Ordinance No. 3284 in 2008. The proceeds of this fee are used to assist property owners in making sidewalk repairs. Ordinance No. 3284 had a sunset clause which expired June 30, 2013. In May of 2013, the City Council voted in favor of continuing to collect the sidewalk utility fee through June 30, 2018 by adopting Ordinance No. 3318.
Reimbursable grant applications will be accepted by the Baker City Public Works Department until approved grant applications exceed the grant funds available.
