The City of Baker City announces that it is seeking volunteers for the following boards and commissions:
Tree Board: (one partial vacancy and two full-term vacancies)
The Tree Board has the duty to maintain a written plan for care/maintenance of trees/shrubs in parks, along streets, and in public areas; to consider and make recommendations on any special matter/question within the scope of their work as requested by the City Council; and to issue/deny, after hearing, tree permit variances. The Board may also order the removal/remedial treatment of unsafe, dead, diseased or potentially injurious trees on public or private property. The partial term ends July 2014, the full terms end July 2015.
Planning Commission: (one partial vacancy)
The Baker City Planning Commission takes action on matters concerning land use, parks, thoroughfares, or any other matters relating to the planning and development of Baker City. It also has the power and duty to advise the City Council regarding certain property uses, zoning and other issues. The Planning Commission meets on the third Wednesday of each month. Term expires January 2015.
