BAKER CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT - PRESS RELEASE

Incident: Barricaded Subject
News Release Date: November 17, 2011
Involved Person(s): Jonathan Henry – 22 years of age

On November 17, 2011 at about 12:40 pm Baker City Police responded to 225 Bridge Street for the report of an individual, later identified as Jon Henry, in that residence claiming he was being threatened by unknown persons outside of the residence. When officers arrived on scene they were unable to locate any suspects outside the residence. When officers attempted contact with Henry he threatened to shoot, if they didn't back away from the residence.

Additional Law Enforcement Officers from Baker City, Baker County and the Oregon State Police arrived on scene, closing Bridge Street and evacuating the Oregon Trail Restaurant, Les Schwab Tire store and private residences in the area. Officers attempted to negotiate with Henry and get him to walk out of the residence. Henry, who was displaying aggressive and abnormal behavior, did not comply.

Officers eventually were forced to breach the front door of the residence, finding Henry locked in a small room. Officers inside negotiated with Henry and convinced him to come out. He was then taken into custody. No Law Enforcement personnel received injuries. Henry received multiple self inflicted injuries and was transported to the hospital.

No firearms were found in the residence.

Henry is being charged with Disorderly Conduct and a Probation Violation.
