2011 Street Projects

'E' STREET from 10th to 8th Street received a major overhaul this summer by receiving a thin overlay. Thin overlay consists of placing a thin asphalt mat on the existing asphalt street. Patching, crack filling and other rehabilitation work is completed in preparation of this procedure. A fog seal or ΒΌ"-#10 chip seal is applied within two years of the overlay work in order to seal the new asphalt. Sidewalks were also installed on the north and south sides of E Street as part of this project, drastically enhancing pedestrian safety near the Baker High School.

'L' STREET from Hwy. 30 to the east side of 9th Street was also a part of this year's thin overlay project. This street serves both the surrounding residential and commercial districts, as well as receiving a moderate flow of traffic going to and from the high school. This section of 'L' Street was constructed in 1973. It was last treated in 2003 with a fog seal coating.
